The battle of Gettysburg was one of the bloodiest and largest battles in North America.The battle started July 1 through 3 in 1863. The two states that fought in this army was Northern Virginia and Potomac. Northern Virginia was the Confederacy and Potomac was the Union. Robert E. Lee led the union to victory but lost many soldiers because of this victory it was a turning point of the American civil war. The confederates had a good chance of winning but lost proving that the North had a chance in winning. The commander of the confederate was Joseph Hooker.​
