Next weapon that was used are swords & sabers. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabre) Sabors and swords were used in the 1800-pressesnt time, but they were invented long befor then. (http://www.swordhistory.info/?p=95) These sabers were commonly used by officers during the civil war. Over time the saber lost its title and became redesigned as a bayonet. These would attach to rifles, or muskets so during reloading you could turn it into a spear.
