
One women of war is Clara Barton also known as Clarissa Harlowe Barton she was the founder of the American Red Cross she was a hospital nurse. She was born on December 25 1821 in Oxford, Massachusetts. As a child Barton took care of her brother after an accident he was this was the starting of helping people who needed help. She was also a teacher at the age of 15! Then a the Patent Office clerk. When Civil War started she became a nurse who gave resources the soldiers needed. Barton helped soldiers in Battle of Antietam she began to develop the name “Angel of the Battlefield. Later on she visited Europe and worked at the International Red Cross. When she came back to the U.S. she created the American Red Cross. After war ended in 1865 Barton worked at the War Department to give information and reunite missing soldiers. If it wasn’t for Clara Barton the Union Troops could have failed their victories.
