Another women of war is Jane Stuart Woolsey she was born in Connecticut in 1830. When Woolsey saw Major Robert Anderson after the Battle of Fort Sumter she wanted to participate but couldn’t. At the time when nurses were unprepared Woolsey was ready to care for wounded soldiers she was being trained in a hospital in Rhode Island. In 1863 she became a Superintendent of Nurses at the Fairfax Seminary Hospital until war ended. She also wrote about her memories of being a civil war nurse called “ Hospital Days” and “Reminiscence of a Civil War Nurse”.
